It ussually means you didn't get it but they say wait 30 days because someone (person not computer) is going to review you aplication and figure out if you deserve their card or not...if that was your first card aplication I say they'll say no because it sound like you did it with a big name company right?
when aplying for the first time you should go for department stores or jewelry places, once you have a credit card with a couple of those places wait a few months and than apply with a big company and you'll get it...well as long as you pay everything or a big portion of what you owe to the other places you got a card from...
References :
my son, who is 21 and has credit already, got the same response from CHASE offer. but then in less than two weeks, he got his approval and card in the mail! just wait it out and good luck. credit is a necessary evil these days, but please, please, please...don't be foolish and spend foolishly. think before you charge anything, now or whenever. it's neat at the time to buy something at that moment, but the payments on your bill will arrive and you can pay forever!!! it does not feel good then!
References :
the only thing more dangerous than someone with bad credit is someone with no credit. they are wary of you since you have no established credit, your a student blah blah blah. it takes them awhile to verify your status, residence, job (if you have one), and your account status. if you had established credit then it wouldn;t necessarily take this long to approve or deny your application. if you do get this one and are financilly responsible; when you apply for other cards in the future, the response time will be a lot quicker. basically, once they can pin you down, see you can make payments, you'll get it.
